VF United Rec All Stars
Program Overview:
The Rec All Stars program is designed to provide Rec league players with additional practice time and the opportunity to play games in a tournament setting. Ideal participants are those Rec league players who are looking for additional skills development time and a somewhat higher level of competition. This program is targeted to provide a level of play and instruction that is between that of the Recreation and Travel programs. As such, Rec All Stars could be viewed as a stepping stone opportunity for players to experience more competitive play and enhance their skills in preparation for trying out for a Travel soccer team.
Rec All Stars teams typically meet an average of 2 or 3 times per month from January through July. During the poor weather months, practices are held indoors in a VCS gymnasium and/or indoor turf field such as the Brighton Sports Zone. Once the spring weather has arrived, practices are held outdoors and will continue during the Summer Rec season. Each team will participate in two summer outdoor tournaments (typically located within
MonroeCounty).
Who Can Participate:
Boys and girls between the ages of 9 - 15 can register for the program (must turn 9 prior to August 1 of current season). Teams will be formed based both on the number of players registered and the availability of volunteer coaches. Siblings are allowed to play on the same team as long as the age and gender requirements are met. Travel players cannot participate in the Rec All Stars program.
Given that this program is built upon and augments the Summer Rec program, then all participants are expected / required to register for both the Rec All Stars and Summer Rec programs. All Stars players are also welcome and encouraged to participate in the Fall Rec program.
How Do I Register:
Registration will be announced via e-mail and can be accessed on-line via the VF United web site (www.vfunited.org). Prior season All Stars players will be given priority when teams are formed. Additional roster spots will be allocated on a first-come / first-served basis. Please note that due to the possibility of insufficient player head-count, completing the registration process alone does not guarantee that the player will be assigned to a team. Every effort will be made to form viable teams and place players accordingly. Each registrant will be notified via email soon after registration has closed as to their status. The registration fee covers two (2) outdoor tournaments, indoor practice time, and a game jersey. It is possible that additional fees might be required for additional tournaments and jamborees. Any additional costs should be no more than $10 per event per player. The coach and team manager will inform all players of any such incremental fees.
As with all of our soccer programs, we can only be successful with the help of committed volunteers (coaches and managers). If you would like to help out, please send us a brief email via our web site using the “contact us” link.
