Philosophy

V/F United Soccer Club offers the chance to play soccer to boys and girls of various ages and skill levels. So that V/F United may serve the needs of as many young players as possible, three levels of competition are offered: Recreation, Select and Travel.

V/F United Soccer Club's Recreation Leagues provide a "just for fun" outlet for young players, no matter what their skill level. No official score or standings are kept. Good sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game are emphasized for players, coaches and parents.

Players and parents who prefer a more competitive environment may want to consider one of the higher levels of competition.

Recreational coaches are to adhere to the following guidelines:

• Playing time should be divided as equally as possible among all players, without     consideration of skill-level
  
• Players should be rotated between the various field positions (i.e. forward, midfield,     fullback), so that each player may experience each position
  
• Goalkeeper is a special position. No player should be forced to play keeper if they are not     comfortable with it. Interested players should be given the opportunity to try the position
  
• Coaches should not use abusive language with players, referees, parents or other coaches
  
• When discussing a call with the referee, a coach may seek clarification, but the referee's     decision must be respected
